July & August Card Club

Summer is finally in full swing! (I don’t want to complain but HOLY CRAP IT’S SO HOT MY BODY IS JUST A PILE OF SWEAT AHHHH!) July and August’s Card Club deliveries were chock full of beach vibes and backyard scenes printed in saturated colors perfect for the season.

I’ve already got some fun picks in mind for September, so make sure to join the club by August 20!

Brittani & Peter’s Rustic Montana Wedding

Brittani and Peter got married today in rural Montana and I could not be more excited to share their invitations! Inspired by a previous custom project of mine, Brittani and I incorporated details specific to the couple to create a suite that truly represented them and their big day.

My favorite details are the unique watercolor touches, especially on the reverse of the main invitation card (it’s the first thing guests will see when they take them out of the envelope) and the RSVP. How great is that cow?!

Chloe & Vanessa’s Hybrid Wedding Invitations

Chloe and Vanessa got married today under a big old tree in Spring Green, WI. When we started talking about their invitations early this year, they wanted that beautiful tree to feature prominently in their invitations, and were drawn to the look of watercolor as well as the luxurious tactile quality of letterpress.

Although some printers have created a watercolor-like look via multi-color (read: expensive) letterpress printing, I knew a hybrid method of offset and letterpress printing would be perfect for this project!

The design began with an old botanical sketch of an oak tree, which I laid a green watercolor wash into for their invitation. The small informational text was also printed digitally to allow the couples’ names to be printed with a super deep impression in the gorgeous cream cotton paper.

We let the watercolor shine on the information-only enclosure—the couple decided online RSVPs were the way to go—and a hand-drawn map by the bride shows off well known artistic tourist attractions such as American Players Theatre and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin along with the wedding venue.

Congratulations Chloe and Vanessa, and thank you so much for making me a small part of your big day! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!

622 press turns NINE!

A few months ago I was cleaning up after a long day of printing and my iTunes shuffled to a favorite old jam. As I was grooving and singing (and wondering what my neighbors thought of my song and dance routine through the open windows), I realized I had gone through the exact same steps to the exact same song once…  more than once—countless times—before.

Over nine years, six homes, two countries, the beginning and end of a marriage, a ridiculously dramatic work life, family ups and downs, and a million other things, Bess has been the one constant in my life. Somehow this 135-year-old piece of machinery has always been whatever I needed—a creative outlet, a new skill to learn, something to fill my days when I was lonely, a boost of confidence, and finally a full time job I could move abroad.

So here’s to Bess, I can’t wait to see what the next nine years bring.

Yes Way Rosé Inspiration

A few months ago the lovely and talented Julianna over at The Newport Bride asked if I’d send a few goodies for some upcoming styled shoots. Having seen her work making the rounds on social media for a few months, my answer was of course a resounding “YES!”

I took the opportunity to create a project I’ve been pitching to clients for months now: Plexiglass signage and invites hand-lettered with white ink. I’m completely obsessed with how they turned out!

Here’s a sneak peek of a few of my favorite shots, and make sure to click through to Yes Way Rosé Inspiration on the Newport Bride for more!
