Blush Pink Watercolor Wedding Invitations

Is there anything more romantic than a wedding filled with lush flowers? City or country, modern or traditional, there’s always a flower that’s perfect for your big day. They’re also super fun to paint and design with!

pink_dahlia_6034I started to get back into watercolor painting again after a bit of a hiatus for a client this summer. She went with a different option (to be revealed next spring!), but I’m still absolutely in love with these loose pink flowers! Artistic and modern while still being decidedly pretty, the loose style of painting interacts perfectly with the sage watercolor wash featured on the rest of the suite. Pairing them with a lime envelope creates a fresh feel that would be perfect for a spring wedding!

Modern Romance: Purple Floral Wedding Invitations

Well you guys, I’ve been talking about it for months, but offset printed wedding invitations have finally hit my etsy shop! And since I’m traveling most of this month for weddings across the country, I thought this was the perfect time to launch them!

Since every couple has different stationery needs, I’ve structured the wedding section of my shop in such a way that you start with the invitation and then add on whatever enclosures and extras you’d like. The other great thing about that is that the invitations alone are really affordable—so you can have them customized for other events! Just get in touch.

purple_floral_5974I fell in love with these hand painted purple graphics from Create the Cut as soon as I saw them. Since they were part of a giveaway and quite a few designers have them, I wanted to make sure to create something unique than just placing them on the page, and these chic invites are the result!

purple_floral_STD_6105And remember how I mentioned choosing which elements you need to make your wedding stationery suite complete? In addition to the RSVP and other enclosures, you can also add a coordinating save the date or menu for a cohesive look from start to finish. purple_floral_menu_6354

Save the Dates With Photos!

I love letterpress. A mechanical printing process just imbues such purpose into every piece, no matter what it is. But, it does have its drawbacks: mainly that it’s very difficult or impossible to reproduce 4-color images, like photos or watercolor.

Recently I’ve had a few couples interested in including an engagement photo on their save the date announcement, so I’ve gotten to design without the restrictions letterpress imposes, and set up a relationship with an offset printer. It’s been such fun!

Sara reached out after seeing some of my save the date coasters on Wedding Lovely, however once I saw her hopes for her own design, I knew offset would be the way to go. They loved a hand-lettered look with lots of swashes—I loved how these turned out!

Allison_STD

Bride-to-be Allison has a more formal style, with classic calligraphy and romantic watercolor floral. I love how their monochromatic photo works with the rest of her design elements. Can’t wait to share her invitations with you next spring!

Red Wedding Flowers

Sorry for the radio silence, friends, I’ve been super busy playing catch up from being away and working on some really exciting new projects!

The day before we left for Chile, a big order for paper flowers came in, and I was so excited because it was my first full wedding order, and so disappointed because I figured I’d have to refund it, as I wouldn’t be able to work on it for nearly two weeks. Lucky for me, this bride was planning ahead, and we had plenty of time before her big day!

So the day after we got home, I got to work on this gorgeous flower crown and a large bouquet for the bride, along with a smaller bouquet (pictured) and boutonnieres! 5R0A0910 5R0A0925 5R0A0950

I tried some new techniques with my poppies and I’m absolutely loving how they’ve turned out! One of the things I love most about making paper flowers is the problem solving, always striving to make them more realistic and more beautiful. 5R0A0971

A special thanks to Adrian Cunningham of Ballyknock Photography for taking a few quick snaps before I sent them off to Australia!

A Daring Adventure

life_is_a_daring_adventure_P39

This week, we head out on a daring adventure: to Chile! Ever since I saw a friend’s photos from Easter Island a few years ago, it’s been on my short list, so when Andrew proposed taking a real vacation this year, it was one of the destinations I was rooting for.
