Holidaze

Well kids, it’s officially November. Believe me, I checked. Twice. I don’t know where summer or even fall went, but I do know that we’re working on the December issue of BRAVA, so that means I had better get my act together and get some holiday cards out!

Now available in the 622 press shop: several different colors of ornaments, a vintage “Fifth Day of Christmas” print and the PEACE tree card below. Enjoy and have a happy November!

Happy Easter!

I’ve been intrigued by pysanka (eggs that are hand painted with hot beeswax, dyed a light color, beeswaxed again, dyed a slightly darker color, over and over until you have the intricate multicolor designs seen above) for years—I’ve even tried it a time or two…unsuccessfully. Leave it to an etsian to master the craft.

Katya of Ukrainian Easter Eggs created the beauties shown here. She even offers a handy video for those wondering how they’re created.

Light Blue

A couple weeks ago all I wanted to do was print in this fabulous robin’s egg blue. Dandelions! Damask! Frames! Ornaments! (Yup, holiday greetings are on their way…) They all looked amazing in this color. This weekend, I finished them up (many got a pop of red!) and folded and packaged the one color designs while the rest dry. Enjoy!

Oh, and 622press goods made it into a bunch of treasuries today, so thanks to Barbara, Daphne, Emily and Lynsey.

Sandra and Jim of Beehive Kitchenware both hold a Masters of Fine Art, and yet their work, while beautiful, thoughtful and perfectly executed, consists of pieces anyone can identify with. The one that first attracted me was their signature heart measuring spoons — they are so adorable and so clever! I love the simplicity of their style (probably because it’s so similar to mine) and the fact that they make everyday tools so much fun!
