Light Painting with Ballyknock Photography

You’ve seen quite a few photos by Adrian Cunningham, otherwise known as Ballyknock Photo over the last two years. (Check out this one, this one and this recent one here.) I figured it was about time I payed him back, so a few weeks ago, we headed to an empty beach just before sunset and made some awesome images!

Adi has been into long-exposure night shots for a while now, has also done some artsy work with sparks and steel wool, and recently he discovered Eric Paré’s light painting work and tutorials online and was hooked! 5R0A2862 5R0A2882

For each shot, I stood perfectly still for somewhere between 10-30 seconds while Adi triggered the shutter on the camera to open remotely, then waved a lighted tube behind me. The results are varied and awesome! 5R0A2894-Edit

These are just a few of my favorites—check out more from this session and others, along with the rest of his work here!

You saw the preview of Abi and Spencer’s gorgeous save the date last winter, and now I’m excited to share the rest of their stationery!

For their invitation design, I expanded on their Art Nouveau theme and added a few special touches to create a truly stand out suite.

I’ve been wanting to use petal envelopes for a while now, so I was very excited about these gorgeous deep blue beauties! Topped with an antique gold faux wax seal, they are the perfect introduction to these beautiful invitations.

About halfway through production of the invitations, the bride’s mother ordered a set of my Advice for the Bride & Groom coasters to have on hand for the reception. I love her thoughtfulness!

I used the same beautiful sparkling gold paper for the invitations and my gorgeous cotton stock printed with coordinating gold ink for the invitations. Mixing papers and materials adds an artistic flair to this luxurious, historically inspired invitation suite. I love how it all came together!

New & Improved Print Shop

closed

I’m getting packed up for a few weeks of travel so I thought I’d make it official: 622 press will be semi-closed for most of September!

I say semi-closed because while no cards, hoops or flowers will ship until I return on the 26, some custom pieces, wedding invites (more on that to come!) and of course digital artwork will still be available.

Great timing—as I’ve just given the Digital Prints section of the shop a refresh! You may remember my post about offering archival, museum quality prints from a few months ago. I was happy to check adding those prints off my list before heading out on vacation, but when I revisited them recently, I decided it wasn’t the best way to offer them.

So now that they’re easier to order, I’ve also added new designs—available as both a digital download and art prints! These are some of my favorite thus far—go check them out by clicking on the photo! And stay watch this space while I’m away—I have tons of fun reveals planned for September!

Custom Print & Poster Designs

You guys have seen a lot of the digital prints (now available as a download or archival print!) I’ve created since I launched new product lines just over a year ago, but I’ve also been commissioned to create some really fun custom pieces lately, so I thought I’d share!

One of Andrew’s coworkers got in touch about a set of letterpress prints for a birthday present. Unfortunately, she had already purchased frames that held paper larger than I could print on my press, so I suggested just designing them and having them printed elsewhere. This was such a fun little project for me because I got to use a bunch of my new fonts. And I love how they turned out!

Another commission came via a friend in Utah, who had seen another friend’s Facebook post in search of a designer. She wanted a print for her dad’s 70th birthday—the entire family had contributed to a list of 70 things they loved about their father and grandfather, and I worked them all into an adorable little print!

A Daring Adventure

life_is_a_daring_adventure_P39

This week, we head out on a daring adventure: to Chile! Ever since I saw a friend’s photos from Easter Island a few years ago, it’s been on my short list, so when Andrew proposed taking a real vacation this year, it was one of the destinations I was rooting for.

There will be plenty of photos and a travel post to come, but in the mean time, I’ve checked another shop update off the list! Three sizes of cotton archival prints turn one of my digital downloads into a museum quality piece! Browse all the sizes here and stay tuned for new prints soon too!
